In the past there have been many attempts to make porn acceptable for the society. Undoubtly there are tendencies to bring more explicit sex scenes in mainstream movies. An increasing sexual trend characterizes the daily lifestyle of more younger people, expressed in private porn videos. But that's not enough to establish real sex movies aka hardcore porn as an adequate expression of human art and culture and to promote the depiction of nudity, erotism and sexuality in all possible forms. What are the readers of RSM thinking on this topic? Is it good and important to show possible real sex in more mainstream movies? Which effect causes filmed hardcore scenes to the personal feeling? Should pornography be granted in the public and by the society?

Many Attempts to find a new definition of Porn
During the last decade there have been many attempts to define pornography new and to promote it in movies. 2004 Matt Damon stated to have a great interest to make a character-driven porn movie. 2005 the Dansih movie ALL ABOUT ANNA was called a HEARTcore film. 2008 Joe Swanberg said in an interview, he would definitely be interested in shooting a porn, just to see what it's like. 2009 Maverick director Gaspar Noe announced to make “a joyful porn movie – a joyful movie with explicit sex.” In his opinion there should be mixed real emotions and explicit sex. 2011 young German director Sergej Moya started his ambitious project of HOTEL DESIRE as a porNEOgraphic film. Much more similar projects could be added here.

"The first time I remember seeing real sex in a movie was in "Taxi zum Klo" and "The Life of Jesus (1997) La vie de Jésus (original title)" and it was not about Jesus Christ, it was about a boy who was mental. Eddie Christie Photographie - An Introduction to his Creative Artwork

Eddie Christie is a creative photographer of Fine Art Nudes. He appreciates realism and the human form in all its aspects. His work often verges on erotica. 
RSM author Imagination asked him, if he would write an article for this blog. His contribution is a reflection about "Real Sex in Mainstream Movies" from his viewpoint as photographer. This will be published in the next post as part 2. The first part now is an introduction of the artist himself and a taste of his talented artwork.

On his websites "Model Mayhem.com" Eddie Christie introduces himself:
"I am half Scottish and half German, but all American. I am a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army for seven years during the First Gulf War. I have a background in gymnastics, dance, yoga, rock climbing, theater, music and opera. I studied Photography and Graphic Design for three years each but my degree is actually in Printing & Publishing. I come from an artistic family ... writers, artists, musicians, photographers, but mainly teachers. For three generations my family has lived in over 15 countries working for the US government, so I have been exposed to many cultures, religions, politics and attitudes. My view on nudity is more European/German/French and artistic."

Mainly Male Models
Eddie Christie's work is typically classified as "Fine Art" nudes but will often verge on erotica. He mainly works with the male form but that being said, he is not opposed to working with women, couples (both straight and gay), musicians, actors, athletes, people with disabilities and of course those in the military. Most of his models are straight, not that it matters. 
Principles of Photography
Eddie has a fascination with abandoned buildings, forts/castles and extreme landscapes and tries to photograph models in those locations whenever possible. But he spends half of his time in a studio. He prefers static poses with images taken from several angles. He also likes images that convey strength, flexibility and balance. He has strong composition skills and tries to always put at least three features of what makes or classifies an image as Fine Art into his photos.

On his blog "Eddie Christie Photographie" the author gives an introduction to his reflection about "Real Sex in Mainstream Movies" and why he wrote it for the RSM blog:   
"So, this blog tends to be more on the erotic side of my images, mainly because, I have befriended the blogger who runs the REAL SEX MAINSTREAM blog. He often comments on my images, both male and female and tells me why he thinks certain images can and do turn him on. Yes, even images of men can make this straight man get horny. And if you are not homophobic, in my opinion, you should be able to allow yourself this pleasure. It's the same as watching a sex scene or why straight porn shows the penis; to make the male feel as though he is part of the action or doing the action himself."

"I was recently asked about the importance and my feelings of sex and porn in my life. And what I appreciated about the REAL SEX MAINSTREAM blog. The reason I am writing about this is because I believe it goes hand in hand with photography. I am a nude photographer. I typically do what is called Fine Art Nudes but often verge on Erotica but I don't do porn. Most people, if asked cannot tell you the difference between the three. Can you?"


Classification of the different types of Photos
"It is important to me because it is what I base the premise of all my photos on. It is what I was taught but more importantly, it is because I have the knowledge whereas most people do not. I feel the need to educate. Why? Well for example, I recently joined a website that would promote my photographs and even sell them. But after two days, ALL my images (even the non nudes) were removed and I had threatening messages from moderators. 
Why? Because that website considers ANY male nudes to AUTOMATICALLY be considered porn. WTF! I've had images removed from my Model Mayhem account because the moderator said my photo to be pornographic. When I tried to educate the moderator, I was told that if I continue to argue then my profile would be removed."
