SONATA ist nach dem zeitgenössischen Tanzfilm QUINTET - a choreopornographic experiment (2013) - der zweite Teil einer Trilogie. Darin geht es um die Auslotung der Grenze zwischen Pornographie und Kunst. Ausgangspunkt sind die getanzten Improvisations-Scores, die im ersten Teil dieser Trilogie entwickelt wurden. Diesmal stehen Klänge im Fokus. In SONATA wird das Begehren durch Stimme und Bewegung verhandelt. Dabei werden einzigartige sinnliche Bilder kreiert.

Worum geht es in diesem Projekt?

Als wir 2013 angefangen haben, QUINTET zu produzieren, schien die Idee des "zeitgenössichen Tanzpornos" ziemlich weit hergeholt. Zum Glück fand die Idee einer tiefen und reflektierten physischen Recherche an der Entstehung erotischer Bilder anscheinend bei vielen Resonanz. QUINTET hatte beim Pornfilmfestival Berlin 2013 Premiere, und wurde seitdem auf zahlreichen Festivals gezeigt, u.A. Cinekink 2014 in New York, PornyDays Zürich, La Fête du Slip in Lausanne, HomeFest in Bukarest, das Seattle Erotic Arts Festival, LadyFest in Milano, und das PinkScreens Festival in Brüssel. Um die Recherche zu vertiefen, und einen komplett anderen Aspekt der Arbeit zu beleuchten - nämlich einen Fokus auf Stimme, Atem und Klängen - wollen wir die Choreopornography-Serie zu einer Trilogie ausbauen. Der dritte Teil, der für 2016 geplant ist, soll ein nicht-expliziter Tanzfilm mit Porno-Darsteller*innen werden.


In SONATA geht es darum, Begehren durch Stimme und Bewegung zu verhandeln - und einzigartige sinnliche Bilder zu kreieren.

Was sind die Ziele und wer ist die Zielgruppe?

Das Projekt richtet sich an alle, die finden, daß es intelligentere Pornos und geilere Kunst geben sollte.

Warum sollte jemand dieses Projekt unterstützen?

Wir wollen hinterfragen, wie subtil, reflektiert und gründlich konzipiert erotische Kunst sein kann. Trotz Filmen wie Shortbus, und viel wichtiger Pionierarbeit von queeren und/oder feministischen Künstler*innen, wird Kunst, die Sexualität explizit behandelt, nach wie vor marginalisiert.


Wir denken, daß ein Thema, das eine so wesentliche Rolle im Leben so vieler Menschen spielt, nicht den Mainstream-Produktionsfirmen überlassen werden sollte, um professionell und in hoher Qualität damit zu arbeiten.

Was passiert mit dem Geld bei erfolgreicher Finanzierung?

Alle haben ihre Unsicherheiten, wenn es darum geht, Leute um Geld zu bitten. Aber wir bitten euch nicht um Geld, wir bitten euch um gute Energie, die die FORM von Geld annimmt! Und es gibt auch gute Energie zurück! Schaut euch nur die Dankeschöns rechts an!

Berlin ist immer noch eine der günstigsten Standorte, um Kunst zu schaffen, also können wir unsere Kosten relativ niedrig halten. Allerrdings braucht dieses Projekt einen gewissen Produktionswert, um den Punkt rüber zu bringen. Es ist uns besonders wichtig, die Cast & Crew fair bezahlen zu können, da sie jahrelange professionelle Erfahrung als Tänzer mitbringen, und bereit sind, ihre Grenzen herauszufordern.
 

Wir haben insgesamt ein Budget von € 10.000 angepeilt, das sich wie folgt zusammensetzt:


5 Performer für 7 Proben- und Drehtage: € 4000


Technische Mitarbeiter: € 2000


Miete Location: € 1000


Miete Equipment, Kostüme, Requisiten: € 500


Postproduktion, Schnitt: € 1500

What is this project all about?

When we started producing QUINTET in 2013, the idea of "contemporary dance porn" seemed pretty far out. We're happy to say the idea of a deep and self-reflecting bodily research into erotic images seems to have resonated with a number of folks: QUINTET premiered at the Pornfilmfestival Berlin 2013, and was screened at numerous festivals since, including Cinekink 2014 in New York City, PornyDays in Zurich, La Fête du Slip in Lausanne, HomeFest in Bucharest, the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival, LadyFest in Milano, and the PinkScreens Festival in Brussels. To deepen the research, and to play with a different aspect of the work, SONATA will focus on voice, breath, and sound - we would like to expand the Choreopornography Series into a trilogy. The third part, planned for 2016, will be a non-explicit dance film with porn performers. In SONATA, we aim to deal with desire through voice and movement - creating unique erotic images.

What is the project goal and who is the project for? 

This project is for everyone who thinks there schould be smarter porn and hotter art. 

Why would you support this project?
We wish to expand people's perceptions of how subtle, intelligent, and well-conceived erotic art can be. Despite films like Shortbus, and important groundbreaking work by many queer and/or feminist artists, art that deals with explicit exploration of sexuality is still often marginalized.
We think that a subject which plays such a fundamental role in so many people's lives should not be left to mainstream production companies to be produced professionally and in high quality.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
Everyone has issues asking for money. But we're not asking for money, we're asking for good energy in the FORM of money! And You will get some good energy back! Check out the awesome perks to the right!
Berlin is still one of the world's most affordable cities for art-making, so we will be able to keep our costs down. However, we believe this project needs a certain production value to get its point across. It's especially important to us to be able to pay the cast & crew fairly, as they bring years of professional dance and performance experience to the project, and are also really willing to challenge their boundaries.
 

We are asking for a budget of € 10,000 altogether that breaks down as follows:

5 performers for 7 days of rehearsal and shooting: € 4000

Technical crew: € 2000

Location rental: € 1000

Equipment rental, costumes, props: € 500

Post-production, editing: € 1500
